Aquatics Weekend Info.
We will depart from the Church parking lot promptly at 6:00pm on Friday Sept. 3. All participants should eat supper before arriving. There will be a cracker barrel later that night, so everyone will have a snack before bedtime. The program for the outing is scheduled for all day Saturday, with activities concluding around 8:30pm. Therefore, we will return to the Church parking lot on Saturday evening Sept. 4 around 9:45pm.
Participants should pack lightly. Full Field (Class A) Uniform is required for traveling. Items to pack include: swim shorts, towel, flip flops or Crocs, sunscreen, merit badge pamphlets, pen, paper, water bottle, sleeping bag….We are only staying one night, so very little gear is required.
Aquatics Outing Info.
Scouts who have e-mailed Britt about going on the Aquatics Weekend Sept. 3-5 must turn in their Informed Consent Agreement this Monday August 30 at the Troop meeting. You can also bring your registration money which is $45 per Scout, unless you are taking Water Skiing or Motorboating, and then the fee is $57. Adults going on the outing may pay their registration of $18. The registration fees must be paid prior to departure for the outing.
Game Night: Monday August 30 is Game Night. Scouts may choose not to wear their uniform to the meeting on Monday.
No Troop meeting on September 6 due to the Labor Day Holiday.
Tubing Outing Details
The Troop tubing outing is this Saturday August 21 at Up The River Outfitters located at 6144 Hwy. 20 in Sugar Hill. Scouts and adult leaders should arrive at the outfitter by 10:00am on Saturday morning. We will not meet at the Church. Parents should plan on dropping off and picking up their Scout at the outfitter. The cost of the trip is $9 per person. Scouts and adults going tubing should plan on paying upon check-in. Please do not plan on paying the Troop. You will pay Up the River Outfitters the $9. The float will last around 3.5 hours. Parents should plan on picking up Scouts around 3:00pm that afternoon. Court of Honor Monday August 16
Troop Court of Honor is Monday August 16 @ 7:00pm. Families are encouraged to attend as we recognize our Scouts for their accomplishments. The Court of Honor will be held on the downstairs (parking lot) level of the Church in the City Gate Room.
For After Camp……
July 19: NO Troop meeting as we’ll be at Summer Camp.
July 26: NO Troop or PLC meeting. (We’ll be recovering from Summer Camp.)
August 2: Informed Consent Agreements for the upcoming Chattahoochee River tubing outing are due. The cost is yet to be determined, but is expected to be around $10 per participant. This will be an afternoon of relaxing tubing on the River and is not a campout.
August 9: Regular Troop meeting
August 16: Troop Court of Honor : Come support our Scouts as they receive all the rewards that they earned while at Summer Camp. Families welcome!!!
Summer Camp Information
Troop, following is some information regarding Summer Camp. If you have a question that is not addressed here, please e-mail Britt with that question.
Departure: We will depart from the Big Lots/Quality Foods/Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot on Hwy. 20 in Sugar Hill Sunday July 18 promptly at 12:00 noon. Please arrive no later than 11:45 so we can depart on time. Scouts and Adult Leaders should eat lunch prior to our departure. We will travel in Class A uniform so all scouts and leaders should be in Full Class A uniform for departure.
What to/not to Pack: Electronic devices are not allowed. Leave all PSP, Gameboy, iPod, iPad, Nintendo DS and all other electronic devices at home. Scouts are discouraged from having cell phones. Adult leaders will have cell phones and you can get in touch with the Administrative Office at Camp Rainey Mountain at 706-782-3733 in case of emergency.
Scouts should have handy (perhaps in a day pack) on Sunday a filled water bottle, swim trunks, towel, and poncho. These should not be packed with other gear as scouts will need these while on the camp tour when we arrive on Sunday afternoon.
Warm weather sleeping bag or sheets and blankets should be adequate for sleeping. Be sure and pack a water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, soap, shampoo, deodorant, and other toiletries that are necessary for good hygiene.
If scouts bring their own snacks, they must be turned in to adult leaders and stored in the Troop trailer. There will be NO food or drinks allowed in cabins.
Prescription medications must be labeled with name and instructions and preferably stored in a ziploc bag. These should be turned in to Britt prior to departure. Scouts needing inhalers should keep those with them.
Scouts may have their own money for purchasing Merit Badge supplies in the Trading Post. They may also purchase snacks, but each scout is responsible for keeping up with their own money.
Arrival: We will arrive back at the Big Lots/Quality Foods/Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot on Hwy. 20 in Sugar Hill around 11:30am on Saturday morning July 24. We may be a few minutes early or late, so please plan on arriving to pick up your scout promptly.
July 12 Troop Meeting
-Merit Badge fees and Medical Forms for Summer Camp are due at our Troop meeting on July 12.
-Troop Dues of $26 are due. This covers each Scouts’ Troop dues from July-December. Please make checks payable to Troop 513 and pay our Troop Treasurer at an upcoming Troop meeting.
-Summer Camp logistics will be communicated in the next few days.
Upcoming Schedule
-June 28: Patrol Leader’s Council meeting: 7:00-8:00pm. (No Troop meeting)
-July 5: NO Troop meeting.
-July 12: Troop meeting. Please have all merit badge fees and Medical Forms turned in for Summer Camp.
For Monday June 7
-Informed Consent Agreements and $10 CASH for the June 11-13 campout are due this Monday June 7 at our Troop meeting. All scouts participating in the upcoming troop campout MUST have their ICA and $10 CASH for patrol supplies at the Troop meeting this coming Monday. The fuel surcharge will be communicated later and is payable upon departure on Friday June 11.
-Final Summer Camp Deposit: If scouts have not paid their final summer camp deposit of $55, please do so this Monday June 7. If you owe more than the final $55, please pay the full balance as our Troop will have already paid the remaining balance for all campers.
-No Troop Meeting June 14.
-Eagle Court of Honor: Saturday June 19 @ 3:00pm in the Church.
Whitewater Rafting Information
The Troop will depart from the Church parking lot this Saturday morning May 22 at 8:00am for the whitewater rafting outing. All participants should eat breakfast before arrival. Those who have not paid their fees or turned in their waiver forms MUST do so before departure. Fees and waiver forms should be turned in to Tim Lambright, Troop 513 Asst. Scoutmaster.
The Troop will return to the Church parking lot on Sunday afternoon May 23 at 1:00pm.
All participants should bring old tennis shoes or water shoes to wear on the river. Flip flops, sandals, or Crocs should not be worn.
